Tung Chung / Disneyland Transport Options at a Glance
Tung Chung and Hong Kong Disneyland are both popular destinations on Lantau Island, but getting there can be a headache. Tung Chung has outlet shopping and the Ngong Ping 360 cable car station, and Disneyland is a favourite weekend outing for families. Here's a comparison of the main transport options:
| Transport | Approx. time | Approx. price | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| MTR | 35-60 minutes (depending on starting point) | Standard MTR fare (per person) | Solo travellers, travelling light, not in a hurry |
| Bus | 40-70 minutes | Standard bus fare (per person) | Saving money, don't mind waiting |
| Taxi | 25-45 minutes (direct) | HK$150-$290 | ✅ Families, lots of luggage, in a hurry |
| Private car | 25-45 minutes | Fuel + parking | Car owners, but watch out for parking spaces |
Why Take a Taxi to Disneyland
For families with children going to Disneyland, a taxi has a few advantages that are hard to beat:
- Unbeatable convenience: straight from your front door to the park gate, with no changing, no walking and no standing. Change trains a few times on the MTR with kids, and you're half worn out before you even get in.
- You control the timing: Disneyland opens at 10 a.m. If you want to be among the first in, a taxi lets you set your departure time exactly, without fitting around bus schedules or the first MTR train.
- Family-friendly: a pushchair? Kids' backpacks? Snack bags? It all goes in the car, no hassle. On the way back, when the kids are worn out, they can fall asleep as soon as they get in, instead of being squeezed on the MTR.
- No parking worries: Disneyland's car park isn't cheap, and spaces are hard to find on holidays. Rather than driving yourself, hunting for a space and paying for parking, just call a car.

Tips
- Best time to leave: for Disneyland, we suggest leaving at 8:30-9:00 a.m. to avoid the morning rush and arrive in time to queue before the park opens.
- Book early for holidays: weekends and public holidays are peak times at Disneyland. Please book at least 15 minutes in advance so we can assign a car.
- Return booking: after the Disneyland fireworks end, everyone leaves at once. We suggest arranging your return time in advance, so you don't have to squeeze onto a bus or compete for a taxi.
- Tung Chung outlets + Disneyland day trip: if you want to visit both in one day, you can go shopping and have a meal at the Tung Chung outlets first, then spend the afternoon at Disneyland. NovaTaxi can take you all the way.
